Series 3a expansion tank

Hi all I’m new to the forum and already have a question about my series 2. We have owned the vehicle for many years in the family and has recently been passed to me. I serviced old girl today and noticed the rad doesn’t have a overflow tank/ exspansion tank unfortunately don’t know series engines to well wondered if this was normal as I have seen series 3 with them

it wont have overflow tank was a later idea

Thankyou it’s a very different beast to what I’m use to grew up in the tdi era but I’m learning a lot every day since I got my hands on her. I tried searching for pics of radiator so I can see what others look like but all I can see is series 3 rads which are slightly different to mine

the overflow tank wasnt alot of help
