Hi I have a really good series 3 with a 300tdi fitted. the front standard leaf springs are corroded together so make the ride bone jarringly bouncy. I have already fitted new standard leaf springs to the back which seem to have flattened so the rear is lower than the front. I am considering fitting parabolics to the front to soften the ride but wonder:
A) Will the paras settle to level out the landy back to front
B) is the 300tdi much heavier or lighter than the original 2.2 diesel as this will effect ride height
C) Mixing Paras and normal Leafs on the same car Y/N?
D) Any preference from you viewer as to whoms to buy? I'm not going to Africa or rock crawling, this is a recreational car.

Opinions please:D

paras normally sit a little higher than normal leaf springs...........have a mate running a 109 with paras on front/leaf springs on the back and he says it gives a much smoother ride.

Considering doing the same as I have a 1ton and dont want to lose any carrying capacity and I cant get any guarantee from para manufacturers that they'll take a ton :rolleyes:

Paras for me...would highly recommend GB springs - speak to the guy ther (think his name was Peter Johnston???) nothing that he doesn't know about springs...very helpful...great service...very reasonable cost (£215 inc VAT and delivery for mine last year... does H/D versions if carry weight in back... and all springs are handed to cope with the uneven weight distribution in a landy - think that about covers it from my personal viewpoint - oh yes very nice blue colour as well!!!

I am Still in the process of building an 80 inch hybrid which I am about to remove the almost new para's already promised to Spyderman in favour of new leaf springs (offroad only) I have already removed most of the springs to get a really soft suspension for offroad ability and because the paras are made for the heavy cast engine block which now has a light weight V8 up front.

Not really much help to you But I do rate std springs thats been messed with it gives an old leafer loads more flex as they should be opposed to most that are rusted together like your fronts.

Sounds like the whole suspension springs are cactus. id go with Rocky mountain or GB parabolics. Rocky Mountains are a direct knockoff of the venerable Heystee parabolics but at a much better price. If you got cash to burn, phone Paul Heystee and pay for the best. Otherwise go with RM, GBs, Bearmach but stay away from Sheetpart.
