Hi guys I’m new on here i have a defender 90 2.2 puma and Iv had these springs fitted with fox shocks front is fine but I seem to be getting what sounds like the bump stops hitting the axle over speed ramps etc! I did put a blob of grease on the bump stop to see if that was the problem, It was definitely hitting the axle so I cut them down to compensate for the 1 inch dropped springs, I also put isolators in the top of the rear springs but it still bumps the axle! The only thing that I can think now is the these springs are ment to be standard spec in terms of ride rating but I’mconvinced the terrafirma springs are softerandspringier!
Does anyone relate to this issue andhadsimilar experience?

No, their just standard 2.0 fox but I have checked the rubber bump stops on the shocks themselves and they are definitely not bottoming out!

I think I shall put the standard springs back on the rear as I think the terrafirma springs are just ****, I’m convinced there rating of standard spec is bull**** and their a lot softer spring an I wanted which is why my bump stops are hitting the axle because when it’s static and I measure the height it’s only 1.5 cm lower than standard so I will be sending them back!

I got the from Maltings 4x4 their terrafirma TF033 ment to be 1 inch lowered spring with the same spring rating of standard

I have a great dislike for TF kit , having had their +5" adjustable shocks fail on me in a very short time, and their soft shackles fail in a dangerous manner.

So I am not surprised that their springs are also dodgy. Have you contacted Maltings?, as they are normally pretty good.

Cheers

No not yet, they did actually send me three pairs of springs for what ever reason, when I obviously only ordered two! So now have a spare front pair!

+1 - I had one of their so called shock absorbers fail on me whilst reasonably new towing a heavy trailer ... was not an experience I would care to repeat.

I was looking forward to going to the Stoneleigh GBLR show and having a frank and open discussion on the TF stand with a sample shock in hand, but am now going to a pay & play for the day....Always next Year.

Cheers

Lowering the vehicle by 1" shouldn't cause the axle to hit the bump stops when you go over speed humps!

Particularly if the rear of the vehicle is only a couple of cm lower.

Those rear springs must be pretty soft....what's the ride like?

I like TF springs and have the +2" medium (front) and lightweight on my D90. Like @lightning i'm surprised the axle is hitting the bump stops ?
The ride on mine is reasonably solid and the car doesn't wallow at all. Good when towing and sits down well when winching and the lighter wieght springs give good articulation offroad.

They should have sent me the Tf1033 that state they have the same strength has stock but just 1inch lower, but like a I said it’s actually only 2cm lower than it was when I measured before fitting them so they are clearly softer springs than stated!

Did you put them against the old springs to see if they were any different in length? (Unless they lower the vehicle on account of being softer springs)

How is the ride is it a softer/more compliant ride than before?

Funny enough the stock springs are 1 and 1/2 inches longer but after putting the new ones on the after a before and after measurement of the car height it’s only 2cm lower which is odd, the ride seems fine, I have maltings 4x4 sending me another pair of springs because they said some of the strength ratings are wrong which is great to here NOT!!
