I'm thinking of selling the series 3 (which will be missed) in favour of getting a 90 as it's used as a daily drive and I could do with something more practical ie efficient and comfortable than a series.
I've established that I'll be able to get a well running 200tdi 90 for about 2.5k or so, but how much do you lot reckon I'd get for me 1982 petrol series 3?

Runs fine and starts first time, everything works, it also has 2 spots in the front of the grill since the pics aswell as a work light at the rear and stereo. No corrosion on the chassis or anywhere actually.
Only bad point is the springs need refurbishing which is nothing really.
It's also an ex-mil, that was registered in germany for use by ruperts (officers) I think. It's 12v and always was. Done 120k.

Any thoughts guys? Cheers.

Dump the petrol and put a 200 in it. Also put some Parabolics and some decent dampers on it and it will be SO much more comfortable.

If you do sell it you WILL regret it later in life.

If you do decide to sell, judging by others i have seen for sale you are probably looking at getting about £1000 / 1100. I would love it if i had the space and money, but i don't :(

Yeah, was thinking that at first, but for all the trouble of swapping the engine and possibly the box as well as the springs and soundproofing it (so i can hear myself think), as well as the cost, I could get a 90 which has all of this.
Oh by the way I'm a student and thus poor. :D

bloody hell dont sell it u will regret maybe not imdeatly but you will stick some differnt seats and a 200tdi in it bolts str8 on u just need to make some mounts. and take off the turbo well that jus personal preference. dont sell it. u no that inside out do u really want to buy somthing u onli have the guys word on its history and whats been done

Well it's got some loverly high back exmoor trim seats in and I do like it, hmm, what to do! I may just tdi and soundproof it and refurb the springs.
If I left the turbo on a TDI, would it eventually fook the box since the s3 box is rated to 150lb/ft and the tdi kicks out 195, would it really wreck it or not?
