Recently, my Gaylander has been parked in a less secure area where car theft is double the national average.

Jokes aside, is it safer to park the car with the wheels facing at an angle? (as opposed to being straight) I'm guessing this would make it more difficult to tow the vehicle away, or load it onto a trailer or flatbed? Am I right or wrong?

I've already had a Nigerian guy come up to me (he saw my keys) and started talking about my Freelander. (I didn't even tell him what I drive.) He said it's "very nice" and that he has a Range Rover Vogue back at home. (In Nigeria) May I also add that he works in the UK as a cleaner... (not self employed) While it may be a bad idea to make assumptions, it definitely got me thinking...

Cheers

You might be better getting a decent anti theft device although leaving the wheels turned should help. One cheaper option that a friend of mine did on his series (which may be harder due to the electronics) was to wire a simple switch with a relay in the ignition circuit which was up under his dash. Nothing you can declare to an insurance company and won't stop them getting in but may stop them driving it off.

You are correct. Doing this in conjunction with a disclock or similar will mean your vehicle cannot be towed away on a rope either.

but... as it's a gay lander you could leave it in the car park, windows open, keys in ignition, engine running and still nobody would be interested.
