scratch remover

hiya.

have been going over the car trying to get marks out, i have tried t cut and colour restorer to no avail

there is a scratch remover on jml and was wondering if its any good please.

what do you guys recommend.

as drippy says all the liquid ones in tubes are the same as tcut, are you using tcut direct or wetting the cloth, t cut on its own will take off the paint to the bare metal if yer use it right

i was actually putting the t cut onto a dry cloth, i done it very gently but the scratch's will not come out, will have a look at ebay for that stuff,

If the scratch is deep it will have gone through the top coat and you will be looking at the primer. No amount of rubbing will remove such a scratch, as has been said you will rub down to bare metal. The scratch has to be carefully filled and then rubbed back to leave a smooth surface.

thanks, it looks as though a cat has walked across the bonnet.the car is black and they are showing up as pure white.

i will get the paste of ebay. go over the entire car and see what scratches left.

Have a look at Car detailing....lots of info out there on how to deal with scratches www.detailingworld.com. You may be able to have them buffed out..or failing that if it is deep, you will have to fill it with paint/laquer , making sure it is proud of the paint work, then cut it back with 2000,2500 wet dry, then finally buff.

With black cars the only option is to use the black coloured polish from someone like turtle wax. It won't remove scratches as it claims to do but any stonechips in the bonnet will be filled with black polish instead of the more noticeable white & will reduce the pebbledash effect. As for scratches, the general rule of thumb is, if you drag your fingernail across the scratch & it catches then the it's too deep for T-cut or any cutting compound. The turtle wax coloured kit comes with a crayon which you can use to rub along the scratch & 'fill it ' with the wax then you use the polish. It will reduce the appearance of the scratch but won't eliminate it & it only lasts for 2 or 3 months before needing another going over again.

thanks,as always great advice. i've started to clean it from top to bottom, before i wax the whole car im going to jet wash all underneath , arches etc, im certainly not going to jet wash the engine as i dont want to cause trouble.

would it be ok to post a pic of the car after ive cleaned it.

tcut and electric mop works wonders, but you need to keep mop wet and not go mad or paint problems on edges in paticular
