SATNAV Maps update error message.

Hi everybody.
I am Trying to update SATNAV MAPS in my Freelander2 2010
• After using a disk cleaner,
• I Cleared the ‘DISK Data Volume Information’
from the ‘hidden menu’, and
• Inserted my New and existing SATNAV disks
Error Message is now showing:
*. Unable to read data.
*. Check if map DVD is correct.
I Can no longer access the ‘Hidden menu’.
Any suggestions on a fix, greatly appreciated

Why mess with the hidden menus? They are hidden for a reason.
To update the maps, you simply install an updated DVD and all the updates are done over the next hour or so. There's no need to enter the hidden screens, as those are only for technicians that know why and what they are doing.

Don’t think this problem forms part of the error code system.
Data has been cleared.
How can the cleared data be replaced?
Would the installation of a new disk-drive solve the problem?

I believe the LR diagnostic equipment (JLR SDD) is needed to reload the nav data. From memory the data is loaded at the time of vehicle assembly, as it contains market specific data, like country of sale, type of receiver installed and so on.

I retained a copy of the data.
So I just need to know how to access and reload/install the data.

Thank you for your input.
It appears the car factory ECU settings may also be over-rewritten if it’s been bought after 2000, by using the OBD (On Board Diagnostics) to accessing the chip.

I can't see how accessing the hidden menu in the infotainment system can overwrite any of the 30 different modules in the vehicle.
 
I think someone is getting their maps mixed up....
The only way you can re-initialise the navigation system is with dealer-level systems - even then, it may be problematic, what you appear to have done is not a 'normal' mode of operation, even a replacement system will have some basic, bootloader data installed as part of the manufacturing process. Think of it as formatting your computer hard drive without having a reinstallation disc but you do have a partial backup. The link provided above is for engine control 'mapping' which is modifying the injector output for a given set of inputs (very simplistically) and doesn't relate to any kind of navigation software.
