hi all,an old member back again with a new range,

ive just bought a 2000 range rover 4.6 vogue with the build in sat nav,
the problem i have is that the sat nav wont work,its coming up giving you the warning when you have to press ok on the remote control but nothing happens,ive changed th ebatteries in the remote nothing still happens,i have looked in the boot where the sat nav disc should go and theres no disc in there,does it need one or does it only need one to update the system?also it has the build in tv but the aerial is not set up properly its just folded abovethe passengers sun visor,would anyone have a picture or could tell me the best position to stick it on the windscreen.please reply asap as it driving me mad.apart from that i love it.

I have a 2000 model too with SatNav. With the hand book in the glove box is also a booklet explaining how it operates. Mine is a MkII you may have a later version as mine doesn't have the TV function. Those with TV function have a button on the binical above the stearing wheel (on the other side from the button you press for the fuel flap). For Navigation - It will need a navigation disc to work you can get these off ebay but make sure it will fit your system. Back to the TV it might be able to pick up a few stations but not much as the reciever was analogue and the switch over to digtal means you will need to replace your old tuner with a digital one. TV only works with the car stationary. Without seeing the car can't help with the ariel, mine are tucked up on either side of the front windscreen.

If you really want digital TV in the car then try the link below. Land Rover have not offered a digital TV Tuner for the P38to my knowledge

That generation of satnav never had a good reputation and is ancient technology compared to an 80 quid portable unit of today. A Tomtom One would give far better results and service at a much lower price than trying to fix a knackered RR 2000 early satnav
 
Replace with a DVD or TV tuner then. Or have it repaired at an exorbitant price if you can find someone able to do so!!! No quick fixes for those satnavs as far as I am aware!! They were unreliable and failed quite early on.

Well as the sat nav unit in the boot has no sat navigation disc in it it aint going to stand any chance of providing the maps and info for the system to work. So get a disc and with any luck it should work. If it doesnt then that is another matter but it MUST have a disc to work. :doh:

Have you got a cd player in the house so you can listen to music? without a cd - NO MUSIC!
