Have a 2013Freelander 2 XS with built in sat nav that is now way out of date. All advice previously seen mentions new discs but I can find nothing in the suggested spots where the HDD lives. Is mine different as there seems to be nothing to access the data.

Mine is under the driver’s seat.

Be interested to hear where you can get updated CDs.
This is my problem, the HDD box is normally under seat or in boot, but I do not have anything. As far as I can tell my model is right on the changeover from the CD version to an inbuilt data storage device and I guess it’s accessed through the USB socket, but that’s all supposition and can find out nothing. My LR dealer wants £165 to do it.

Thanks for that. Have actually found an ebay site that offers the same thing for a lot less. At least now I know what is available

I'm newly registered today, and I find myself in the same position and have the same question as originally posted. I believe I have the HDD system and the usual message found in the handbook of 'contact the dealer'! Just to clarify, can somebody please clarify where the USB socket is? I have one in the rear of the centre consul sat between the two front seats. Is this the one, or is there one tucked away somewhere on the underside of the dashboard?
Any help will be much appreciated as there have been a lot of road layout changes over the past 5 years and the sat nav has tried to take me in some peculiar directions, which I have rightly ignored. ps Freelander 2 - MY 2013 XS
Many thanks

Thanks for your swift response raf290.
I followed your link and it came to the same one which I had just saved after searching after my posting.
Did you purchase your update via this link? Did it take nearly 3 hours to download, as some seem too, and was it straight forward? Might also contact the seller (there are only 4 left) to see if there is a newer update in the offing. Very surprised how little info there is about on this subject. Indeed, this is the only info I have found about it after searching this afternoon, so your response is very much appreciated.
Again, many thanks.

When I looked for the link for you, it was on my watchlist, I saw only 3 left so took a chance and offered £80 which was accepted (certainly better than the £197 LR wanted). It comes as a USB drive and will arrive in 3 days. So if you want one try offering something-you never know. Hopefully the instructions will be easy to follow-I'll let you know.

Ah. I thought you had already updated your sat nav when you replied!
Hope the purchase and installation goes well and will look forward to your own update. Thanks.

Done the update, all well and straight forward. The only odd thing is you have to keep the engine running, but you can drive around so a long trip would be ideal. It took about 2.5hours. I’m guessing that this is to ensure that power is constant as I think the ignition will turn off if not used.

Well done raf290. Glad it has been a success. Looks like the way to go ahead, and I am hoping to do a long journey in the not too distant future., so may be I have to bite the bullet. Thanks for the update.
