Hi,

I am trying to fit a Sat Nav system to my 2002 Freelander td4, i cannot seem to find anywhere on the internet which will tell me where to find the speed pulse connection on the vehicle.
Does anybody know where on the car it is or know where i can find the information?

Also i am thinking of superchipping my engine, does anybody have any fore or against views on this???

Thanks

Hi Ollie . . .The non abs models have a speed sensor fitted to the transmission, however the abs version gets its i/p off the wheel sensors that in turn sends 4x i/p,signals to the abs control module this then doe,s a bit of maths and then sends a signal via 2x cables [yellow, black] to the instrument module ,and its from that the speedo then moves , not got a clue as to what type of signals you get . . . and yes re chipping or a power box is well recommended ,sorry if i dribbled on bout your speedo signal maybe some thought by others . . . Ming

The setup is very simialr on most cars,

The 4 signals you get is a plotted sine wave whose frequency varies on your speed, for example the faster you go the more Hz (rev's per second) you get.
It does this by counting the gaps in the ABS rings (i assume like other cars). If the four signals come widely out of sync with each other it shouts out "FAULT" and puts the ABS light on.
This is then de-coded by the ECU and transmitted to the speedo cable.

I hope this is easier to read for you.

Hi,

I have found the speed pulse connection to be used with sat nav.

if any one is interested it is a orange and white wire on the lower of 3 grey connectors on the right hand side of the fuse box.

Also i am going to have it superchipped at the end of jan.

Thanks for your replies.

Olllie
