hi there,been away a while,but i have bought a 2005 54 plate disco 3 now,which has a few stupid wee issues
sorted most now but the sat nav is showing no gps signal,i have updated the dvd disc and checked connection on the unit under seat,i have no shark fin just a plastic cover fitted where the antenna should be,but i also have the panaromic glass roof and the big rear spoiler with the brake light fitted,so my question is,where is the gps aerial/antenna
cheers gus

Sharks fin is in fact the bluetooth receiver, makes perfect sense!
I think gps aerial is under or very near the upper rear brake light.

Is the nav disc genuine or a copy?
I ask as my disc is genuine but very old, so I got one of the cheapies off ebay, initially it worked okay, but would randomly lose the gps signal, sometimes not coming back on for hours at a time, or saying you were miles away fom your current location, in the end i just put the old one back, to be fair the system is crap anyway, I only use it if I need to see to name of the road I am on.

The disc was £25 and has the land rover logo etc on it,was sold to me as genuine, that part of it is fine,it just dosent show where you are in real time and as i say the gps sign has red line through it,i have ordered a gps antenna from ebay that sticks to the window just to check that it is the antenna at fault,i know its not the best system, but i just like everything to work

First thing it run a diagnostic on it. The GPS module is on a data bus, so any fault codes should show up.

You should have a slightly domed lump on the roof, but it's not a shark fin like newer vehicles have. This lump is for the phone GMS signal, for when the original phone was docked.
IIRC the nav antenna is in the high level break light assembly, and isn't easy to replace.
