I've bought a rad today that's identical to the one on my 300tdi in every way apart from.

On the one on the car, the oil cooler pipes slot into an outward sticking thread with a bolt to hold them on and on the one I've bought there's no outward thread but an inward one.

Is it a 300tdi rad I've bought?? or are newer ones slightly different?

Hi mate, iirc what you have to do is unscrew the sticky out bit off the old rad and put it onto the new one. It's like a sort of pipe joiner.

do a search on here m8, someone covered it not long ago. you need some adaptors but can't remember the size. i would search for ya but i can hear the pub shouting me:D

I've seen this issue in a forum before and there were three options, 1. you get an adaptor 2. you remove the male connection from your old rad and the female connector in the new rad and refit the male connector into the new rad 3. you fit a new oil cooler pipe with connections to suit.
And that was it..
