Salisbury diff pinion seal replacement

Ok so I have to replace the Seal on my salisbury axle. Now I know its not the same as a rover diff as they are **** easy. I know they have a certain torque or preloading on the pinion and collapsable ring, but has anyone else changed theirs and have any tips? or know exactly how to do it or will I have to investigate some more and do a write up? Jai

It also needs shimming, and measuring presisly if your taking the whole lot out. If you keeping the old bearings then its ok. I expect you know that already, expecialy since i learned most of what i know about salisbury axles from your diff removal wright up.

Hi Woods,
I just want to change the seal as mine is ****ing out but I can foresee bigger problems as its ****ing out far too much to be just a seal I hope the bearings are in good order and will go again. Jai

Theres a paper gasket/seal between a metal curcualr plate and the actual seal, if that paper ones gone then apparently it will leak alot. I am told it needs to be fitted with care.
