you do sound like you got away with it.. nice one.. but I agree, don't drive it any more till it's fixed..

would it be worth draining the whole thing and replacing with fresh????

erm - wot i meant was leave the fan off if you are going to drive it through lots of water - like wales and salisbury and stuff.

but yes - replace the antifreeze at the same time, because yu then know its as it should be for winter.

no but when i take mine ile take your advise n remove it, what will this do????

it makes your engine get hot and blow head gaskets...

or...

it stops the fan throwing cold water all over your hot engine and cracking the lump...

Whilst I admire your attitude....

Firstly, I could be wrong - it's very difficult to diagnose this sort of problem remotely, so don't blame me if it's sommat else!

Secondly, replacing a water pump isn't really a job for a beginner - is there someone who could help you?

Disco 200Tdi's normally run cool anyways - yu ask Trewy.

I'm tempted to whip mine off this afternoon and see how it goes, as all the edges have been cracked off as if they've hit something and it looks a tad off balance now.
