Hi All, I need to get some large tyres on my '90 RRC, I'm thinking of using the 2inch lift spring spacers to give a little lift, and clearancing the arches/rear doors. My questions is, what kind of size tyres can I get on for good ground clearance but still retain a reasonably large amount of travel? I would like to go minimum of 31x10.5, but ideally something wider would be better, I'm not afraid of popping some arch extensions on. Will larger tyres like this affect the reliability of the running gear, and are there any recommendations for maximum size to do with gearing etc?

What have you guys got on yours? ;)

Hi, ive got 235/85/16 on disco rims on my 200tdi +40mm springs 30mm spacers and 2" flexi arches and have no probs with props or steering. Standard 205/16's are about 28.91inch i guess you are thinking 31/10.50/15 which are about 30.97". mine work out as 31.72" but i want to go up to 255/85/16 (33.06") but a 2" body lift would be needed. The only thing i can say is pulling away needs a bit more clutch but the motorway cruising gearing is better off by about 9% and you,ll need to buy rims and tyres whereas you can use standard 7" rims for the above sizes (only just on the 255/85's) so a bit cheaper. Hope this helps.
