Only had the range rover 24 hours and generally very pleased with it

2 questions:

the first is really stupid - where is the bonnet release handle inside the car? can't find it

The 2nd is that the upper tailgate catch lock is seized (or has the wrong key). How easy are these to replace and if not, what is the favoured bodge to make the tailgate secure?

As ever, all help gratefully received :)

On my 89 classic the rear upper tailgate handle is held in with two pozi/phillips screws (need to remove entire handle to get to lock) there are two more screws on the back of the handle to remove lock barrel. Undo slide lock out. Insert new lock put screws back in. 20 mins max if screws are seized.

Thanks - that's where I thought it would be but it's not there. Could it be anywhere else?

Ps - have checked passenger footwell and under the steering column too....

Its quite low and set well back and if the white markings have worn off can be difficult to see but it should be there. Have a good feel around ;) I know coz I've looked at several Classics recently, there are some rotten ones out there!!

Finally found it - no wonder I couldn't find the lever. Someone has removed it and there is no cable into the cabin - just a discreet lever right in the middle of the grille. Still - glad I found it.

Sory I forgot about that as my mates old one had the same catch in the grill center, similar set up to series landies must have been standard fit on earlier models.

If its seized then a bit of wd might free it.My tailgate was stiff but once a month spraying sorted it.Does the key turn or not?Can you depress the button?
