just got the screen swaped today from 92 scraper i have into my 2 door..

spent 4 hrs tonight outside in the fecking rain making a loom and wiring the screen up using the timer relay etc from donar car..all works..except in dont demist..

bugger..ok i have not yet checked continuity of screen..(was good before )

but am getting 12.9v on feeds to screen, since alternator is putting out 14v+ and have used thick cables (connected to batt) i recon its drawing a decent amount of current (droping 1.1v,so some load there)

tomorrow i will recheck continuity of acreen again..

maybe i am just expecting to much ??

how good are these screens?how long to start demisting?

also incase the "tabs" that feed the screen have become dislodged from screen (gone high resistance) is it possible to solder to screen wires..i have done this on the rear with great sucsess..(though the screen rubber covers the bit i need to get at..)

I live in the mountains of Colorado where it is very cold and icy. Mine works great, but I haven't timed it.;) I didn't even know I had a heated windscreen until I read the manual!

Heated screens are bloody brilliant, all cars should have them. Not instant, but quicker than using the heater fans. You should see an effect within 30-60 seconds I'd have thought.

In my experience heated screens, in general, are better at clearing frost & ice than they are for demisting.

its not instant , about 5 to 10 mins from cold.

also they never seem warm to the touch but they always seem to work some how

its very good, apart from at junctions.Forward vision is perfectly clear, you look outta the side windows to see approaching traffic and relise they aint defrosted/demisted.

There a great thing , as before , only problem is side windows at the first few junction's . should be clear in a few minutes , I got no screen blower working at the moment but the demisting front screen saved me a few time's last year . there is an electrical conducting glue about if that is easier than soldering the tag's back on . I used it on the rear demist last year , still working fine .:crazy_driver:

I agree, heated front screens are great. Never had the use the blower vents on top of dash yet. And also never had the side windows misted up.. But then agian I tend to drive round with the drivers window open slightly most of the time as I am a smoker.

Mine starts clearing after about 30 seconds fully clear within 1 minute. (if ice on screen about 3 minutes to completely clear)

well mine is ****e...fecking thing is open circuit..go find another one ..sigh...
