that cage isn't legal for some speed events under some regs the rear hoop is not within the specified distamce from driver its too rearward.
Check out association of rover owners club website check out roll cage specifications and you should be good for most events.

cage wasnt built with speed events in mind..it was built purely as protection in an offroad situation..

mmmmm defender and speed, thats 2 words you dont normally see together:D

Just a little up-date, the cage will be made over the next week and getting fitted to her a week on saturday! I'll post some pics when it on!

Finally got the roll cage fitted, thought I'd share some pictures. After taking it out over the weekend we're going to make some adjustments to it but i'm happy with it so far!

Not wishing to **** on your bonfire but I take it you dont intend to use it as a roll cage?
The uprights bolted to your rock sliders are not a solid enough mounting.
The outriggers will just bend or part company with the chassis.
Any roll cage should be mounted direct to the chassis rails and should have at least one diagonal from side to side other wise it will just fold up.
I bet that little lot wobbles all over the shop when you drive along?

I'm with shifty. At best its a windscreen protector. Its not legal for any comps and has only highered your CoG so other than looks and possibly a windscreen protector its nowt special Sorry Chap.

I've seen my fair share of comp motors rip themselves apart at speed and at crawling pace. By design your cage is flawed your 90 is heavy even if your motor was under 1200Kgs its still not recognised as an approved cage. There is bugger all to support the rear hoop let alone a cross brace or chassis mount by the looks of things. Check out Association of Land Rover Clubs Roll cage Regulations. They are very strict because they are proven to be very safe. All chassis mounts should be plated with 6mm or 1/4 spreader plates that extend outward alot and the welding is to be to the highest standard. Forget your cds bollix Red band is adaquate but must be to spec and to a recognised design for a real roll cage. Even then it has to be certified and passed by a scruteneer.

Alternativly you can make your own design and if you think its adaquate you can get it type approved but this is a very costly exercise that many companies do not undertake. It requires destruction testing of your cage design. I can tell you that your design will not pass.
