Got an old series IIA that I'm thinking about turning into a CCV trials type machine. But not entering in comps so I'm not bound by all the regs, just for a bit of fun and I like that style machine.

So, heres my question.

At the moment its got a rear roll hoop on it. High enough to weld on some extra bars and extend over the front of the vehicle and down to the chassis.

But, I don't know anyone who can bend tubular steel thick enough. So do I put up a post on here asking someone if they know how to and compensate them for their time?

Is there an off the shelf front bar system?

Or is it easier to remove the rear hoop (welded to the chassis) and then get a flat pack type cage from whitbread off-road or someone?

Thanks
Ash

CCV have strict rules and regulation similar to comp safari. Its usually best to build to minimum Comp safari regs and know that your cage can be used for both if you fancy after a few years having a go otherwise you will be building another cage to later more strict regulations

Whitbread offroad build good cages that exceed minimum specification for MSA regs and for £350 you get a clubmans cage ready to weld together. which is very good indeed. The regulations for association of rover clubs have strict mounting options that must be adheared to before they will certify any rollcage. Lots of 6mm plate and serious thought and planning. Whitbread will probably sell you a mounting kit aswel if you ask them. The cage material are built from Redband or Blueband steam barrel depending on specification. more weight to them than CDS but will not deform after your first bounce off a tree with your rear hoop.

If you PM me for furthur details I'll send you the contact for the man that certifys cages for such events he can talk you through it in more detail. He is a family friend for many years and well in with the Association of Rover owners clubs. I myself have just got an 80 inch with a CCV log booked cage that will appear on the circuit probably end of next year ready for the nationals in 2011 possibly 2010 if I get my ass into gear. Also have an 88inch coil chassis that I'm not too sure what to do with yet? keep build sell I dunno

Ahh, well its more for kicks and giggles that for comping. But I was looking at building a cert cage. Just not for comping, just for my own safety. And I was looking at the whitbread off-road flat pack trialers cage, about £327, its just whether I could grind off the cage I've already got that I was worried about. I can weld, but know nothing about removing them.
