road perfomance

motorway performance actually. what speeds do people cruise at or even "speed" at? In my P38 I very rarely go over 90 - 95. Today in the A4 was cruising at around 125 (Germany! ) with people passing me doing 150 all day long. Made me think, If I'm going to go over 200 kays I'd probably want to be in something german cos they actually do drive at those speeds and build their cars accordingly and its not just theoretical.

would be interested in answers from all around the world and not just p38 owners?

I stick to 70 even though 82 is the limit here, too thirsty to go faster!

75 and I hit the cruise button. She seems to like that speed the best. Just under 70 feels like a struggle but 75 feels good.

Generally the speed limit, TomTom's speedo/alarm is my preferred indicator/limiter although its not always correct for speed limits inforce...max comfortable speed in my P38 is about 90mph (in France on holiday...)

I've been to 120 mph (210 km/h) once in the P38 a week after i bought it.

Bit scarry...was like going 290 in a bimmer.

Those bricks wagon aren't designed for speed at all.

I'm fine at 150-160 km/h on french highways

this is true..

Mines an oil burner so I tend to do a whisker over 70 using cruise where ever I go, not too much cabin noise and not too painful on the pocket....
She will cruise at 90 but it's not pleasant if you know what I mean....
If you feel the need to get there any quicker choose a different weapon

Can you please call it a diesel. Oil burner sounds like a knackered V8.

In my experience most oil loss with a Rover V8 is via the rear crank seal rather than the combustion chambers - I don't think the average Rover V8 can hold the oil long enough to actually burn it!

cant say ive found that to be true

In the UK I tend to do about 65-70. At that speed I can get about 22-24 MPG. Anything over 70 and that seems to drop pretty quickly and on a long journey you definately notice the difference between 18/19 mpg and 23!!

Used to drive everywhere fast, but after putting a car into a tree and a motorbike into a lorry I have calmed down now!!

Because that makes just so much sense...........................

As in, nobody else, no other car maker would dream of testing cars to higher speeds or even bother trying to sell them in Germany :doh:
