I've had a 92 Disco for some time and use it to tow my horse around. I've picked up a dirt cheap P38 with knackered suspension and would like to use it as a replacement for my Disco (Not least because the Rangie has a working heater!)

My Husband is pretty good with Landy's. He had a Classic Rangie for a long time, and we've had 2 Discos. He can sort most things but would like some advice on where to start with troubleshooting this problem.

It is very low all round at the moment, down on the bump stops I'd say. the Suspension light is on constantly and the LED display on the dash says 35mph max.

Any advice on where to start would be much appreciated. It would seem that someone has attempted to change the pump at some time.....

Cheers, Andrea :D

Air springs are probably leaking and need replacing. You need the EAS software and cable assuming you have a laptop, then you can read the faults and clear them. If the srings have been leaking it may well be that the compressor will need an overhaul. It is all easy to do and not that expensive. £11 plus P&P for the EAS Cable and software CD which also has my airbag replacement guide and a copy of RAVE the workshop manual.

Very much appreciated :D thanks. We are trailer-ing it home later on this week and so will spend time going over it next weekend. I have a laptop and so will be getting in touch to source a lead and CD later on in the week. Are these problems generally easily sorted?......;)

As long as you approach it methodically, yes. You will need to budget to replace the air springs if they are original, they have a 7/8 year life and will be perished. :)

YES, if you take a logical approach to it and listen to the likes of DATATEK and WAMMERS on here. If you put your location in your details and offer bribery of cuppas and cake you might even have a spare set of hands.

Especially if the hubby works shifts!!!

Welcome to LandyZone.

Do what I did, change it to coils its about £300 for the kit and not difficult to change out, should be easy for your Husband, a couple of hours and its done. last thing I would want when towing would be the EAS failing. You will find some on here are for coils others are very very against, but it sounds like you want a reliable work horse so one less problem to worry about.

Thanks all :) All advice is much appreciated (not least because I'll have to help out!). Very happy to attack the problem slowly and methodically, just want to get it sorted as trying to change in to breeches in a cold Disco is no fun at all

Cakes and endless tea/ fresh coffee on offer to anyone who wants to lend a hand :) or even just come and have a chat (whether my hubby is here or not :p )

Thanks to you all for your warm welcome :D
