how do certain insurance companies fail so completely with their websites? I don't mean the advertising or quoting side, its once you've paid for the insurance and have to then log in to view certificates etc. Admiral's 'portal' is a prime example of the abominably frustrating bastard awkwardness. You need to log in, (which I've only ever been able to once out of the dozen or so times I've tried to) to see your certificate or summary or any paperwork whatsoever (which I've never ever been able to) as they don't mail, let alone even email you one now. I wont renew with admiral for this reason.

Just bought insurance from another online insurance co, and their website just spits back a 504 proxy error whenever I try to do owt or view documents. next time it'll be on the phone and dealing with proper old fashioned paper I think.

anyone else find this increasing trend of website based witchcraft frustrating?

tesco are the worst, they only let you access the last bit of paperwork they send you, instead of attaching it to an email, they send you a notice that you have info.
you go to their site, and log in and view the said document. so they send you the cert, and if your like me and leave it as electronic till you need it, when they send you a further letter, like direct debit confirmation etc, it overwrites it..
bloody pointless online system if you ask me!

I am with both Admiral and Tesco for the cars in our household and understand the problem of not receiving hard copy polices from them.

But look at it this way, a few minutes, register and log in and print yourself a policy, (when do you really need it, you can tax on line and the plod have pc's in their vehicles telling them who is insured and when it expires anyway!) is better than going to a local broker and being quoted 3 times more than the 2 I've mentioned.

I have just renewed today with Admiral for £500, a local dealer wanted £3200  it's a no brainer really ;)
