Hi all..
My pair of P38's are getting the interferance and getting the Engine Immobiliser Message..
I know i have to update to the new LYWY500170 boxes at 152 GBP,but paydays not for a week........
Its only started doing it on the driveway at home, everywhere else is fine..Im not suffering any low batterys yet, but is a pain in ass keep putting the EKA code in at 5 in the morning.
Ive disconnected aerial wire, but no difference.

Ive heard if i disconnect the power to the reciever it will lock engine out? Is it true? or will it just stop me being able to set the alarm/remote lock? I can live with no c/locking or alarm for a week, before stumping up the 300 quid!!!

Cheers LTel

Try disconnecting the pick up antenna (on your O/S) rear window, the end result means you have to be about 1m next to the car to open it.

But have already disconnected the Aerial wire, and has made no difference.. ( The remote wont work however close i am now !:( )

Both cars started doing it at the same time Thursday, so guessing a new transmitter has been fitted locally thats sending out the attacking frequency..

Just want to see it over till next weekend (payday) then i'll go buy the 2 new boxes,,,,

Any suggestions as to if i unplug the power to the reciever it locks the immobiliser out?

Cheers Ltel

Ok just some thoughts, on trying to track down your external problem,

The fact that you have ditched the antenna, means very strong local interferance

1. does this only happen at night, (Sodium street lights under fault conditions can cause big problems RF wise)

2. Any local Radio Amatures about in your street, Look for antennas

3. You can (if you can get a loan of one) use a DC clamp meter, placed around your red cable of the battery (a current of around 1 Amp means that the receiver in your car is active)

4 At a push I would fit a 0.1uf capacitor accross the supply connections of the receiver (Reason it is possable that the interferance is being picked up within the rest of the wiring loom) this would have the effect of de coupling the RF if its getting in from here.

5. Any one in the street using a Radio door bell (no wire connection type normaly fitted with a small PCB and button cell battery.

If I can think of anything else I will keep the post going.

Not to shout I told you all so! But.....I told you all so!

It doesn't make any difference if you disconnect the aerial or not. If your RF receiver can receive your key fobs signal it can still hear all other RF signals including Wi-Fi routers, garage door openers, CCTV systems and £1 shop weather stations.

The only way to cure the problem is by purchasing and fitting the RF receiver part YWY500170 I have posted a billion times about on this very forum.

Nothing else will properly cure this issue. In the long run, it's just false economy.

Beers on me!
"5. Any one in the street using a Radio door bell (no wire connection type normaly fitted with a small PCB and button cell battery."

Had disconnected ours, but hadnt put 2 + 2 together and considered the neighbours new Door Bell + the cars not starting!!!

Removed his batteries and alls well again!!
Thanks mate!! Appreciate the advice!!! Saved me 300 quid! Thank you very very much!

Adam, I appreciate your advice, and youve helped me many times. But i knew i needed the upgrade ( again your advice! ) but 300 quid until payday wasnt feasable!! And with whats gone wrong between the cars over the last few months, has stopped me being able to afford to fit one "for when it DOES start to happen"..I do listen to what you say,and youve always given good advice, but this time it just wasnt feasable,so was hopeing to get around it till payday..

Cheers gents.And many thanks!
