So when in Cruise Mode and am at about 2500revs (40ish) and hit a hill the revs don't climb smoothly through 3000 to 4000, I just get a jump to 4000-4500 revs. Quite a roar!

If I do the same manually, revs move through normally!

Is that ok?

Friend has a lovely p38 diesel autobiography - it has done this since new...
In cruise, it hangs onto a high gear too long, then downshifts, and loads of revs.
Not too sure why, but it looks like they all do that sir!

When towing I found that upon reaching a hill in 4th it would lose speed, change down to 3rd, engage 3rd (still slowing down), conclude 3rd wasn't gonna cut it, select 2nd ROAR, realise its mistake and select 3rd...
This happened repeatedly until I just pushed it into 3rd before reaching the hill :p

It happens less with a power box fitted, at least it did on mine, but it fecks the gearbox.:(

I have a power chip fitted in the ECU.....

I will just have to use the Cruise when on Motorways only......round were I live (Lots of hills), I will use the pedal!!

Been playing with the idea of a power box but got to say the gearbox isuse concerned me lol
If im not often towing and its mostly free moving traffic would it still damage the box?
It sound daft but id want it for just one junction that I use twice a day. If when the light goes green I can beet the next set (about 100 yards) I have a free run up to the motorway but if it stops me I get stoped on the next 4 sets of lights (all within about 1/4mile) I found this with the wifes vectra thats alittle faster than the rangie

I drove a doozle yesterday with power box fitted and hate to admit that was very quick and " almost tongue in cheek " as quick as my 4.0 V8

Would defo solve your traffic light dilemma tho :D
