Hi guys.

I spent all day today re-wiring my reverse parking sensors. Did a cracking job and they were working perfect. However, everytime i go to put the rear bumper back on they stop working? When i take it off again they work! That means that no wires came out when i put the bumper back on. They might be getting squashed but that should still be ok providing they are still all connected.

I am stumped as to why they wont work. Please help!!

Wire(s) broken internally and connecting when off the car. But being flexed when refitted, thus breaking the connection?

Why did they need re-wiring?

Pete

Well i thought there was an internal break in the wires so i replaced all the wires that was accessable once the rear bumper was off. If there is a break in the wires that run inside the car then 1, i have no idea where to get to them and 2, why would they be moving when move the rear bumper? It would be nowhere near it and firmly fixed inside the car somewhere?

Very confusing.

I'm a P38 driver so don't know about these modern cars but -
Some reverse sensors don't work when too close to a steel bumper. The bumper connected to the car gives a false ground effect. To get round this with after-market sensors the trick is to isolate the bumper from the car, normally with nylon washers.
