Think the battery has gone on my Defenders 'two button alarm fob' and now I cant deactivate the immobiliser to start the engine:mad:

There seems to be a few different opinions on here about how to reprogramme the fob. I usually get replacement batteries from my local auto electrician, who then walks up to my Landie and seems to continuously press the two buttons to reprogramme it (but never tells me exactly how he does it:mad:)

But seeing as I cant now get my Defender to my auto electricians, Im gunna have to walk there with my fob. Has anyone got any tips for reprogramming?

Seeing as I cant start my landie I had to get on my bike and cycle to the auto electicians:eek: Turned out I had a loose contact on my fobs circuit board. Fortunately they managed to solder it back together and put a new battery in, all for £10:)

Anyways, they told me to go back to my landie, take the new battery out of the fob, hold the two buttons down together for a few seconds to clear the memory, then replace the battery, and then to reprogramme the fob repeatedly press the right (activate) button until I hear a blip from the alarm. I never heard a blip but the landie then started with the key:)

For info, the fob for my 1996 300tdi is a 3TXA fob and the battery in the fob is a CR2032 battery. Not sure if I should post all this or not due to security risks so Ill remove the post if folks think its an issue. Im mainly posting this as I know it will happen again in a few years and I'll have forgotten how to do it

what you have posted is just the re-synch procedure after a battery change. If the fob needed programming it woulda had to be plugged into a pooter to do it so I rekon yer safe.;):)

Your right:), and unfortunately their repair to my fob didnt really last, kept having intermittent problems over the following few days. I ended up ordering a new alarm fob and the auto electricians programmed it to my Landie.

All working fine (for now:rolleyes:).
