I know a professional model maker who is making replica models of the police landys. These are top quality, superb detail.

They used to be in slate grey, now in the new white and blue/yellow graphics (attachment)

PM me for details

Nope as I am announcing (not selling) they are available and neither have I placed in a link.

Purely making a recommendation!

isnt announcing just another word for advertising in this case

the wording of your post could just as well have read " a mate of mine is selling nice scale models"

so unless they are being given away .......

No not in my Oxford dictionary

Ah but does it say that......no

By the same token then, if someone asks about tyres in a tyre thread, and
A.N.other recommends Goodyear, plus they happen to mention the 'named tyre' depot down the high street is doing a good deal on these....... are they spamming? As technically they are not selling tyres but recommending someone who is.

If LZ are going to be anal about it I'll remove it, but similarly shouldn't there be a blanket ban on all ebay links, company links and for sale items in members signatures???

all you've done is to word your advert as if you just happened to come across someone who is making the models, you say they are a professional, so i assume they are doing it for commercial gain - if you'd mentioned it in response to someone wanting to find such a model i'd not have commented

if someone is selling their old tyres then rightly so they post in the for sale section

cummon Sean - are yu trying to wind NI up? (yu are doing a good job) - we all post occasionally about summat we are selling or that we know someone who duz. Raz has got a reasonable amount of business from recommendations on this site. I think the definitive thing is....
is the person only posting stuff for sale (wow?)
is the person repeatedly posting stuff for sale?

now we all know that NI puts in some valuable contributions to this site - so the odd "for sale" post is, in my eyes, no problem.
It wouldnt be the first time that i have suggested that you might have summat useful for peeps .

So what you are saying is:
a pre-empted recommendation is spam whereas, a recommendation in response to another members question isn't spam.
:daft:
so if I'd of posted a query 'guys, does anyone know where I can get hold of some replica LR PSNI models'

Then thread goes unanswered, so after several days of searching, I discover somebody who is making them, then post a link for the benefit of others......is that spam?

I haven't disclosed if they are for sale, the fact that the guy is a professional model maker or the fact that I happen to know him is neither here nor there.

They could be for viewing only, or on display in an exhibition, or provided free of charge or on loan for promotional aspects.

If it is against forum rules, to pass on someone details via PM then I will remove the post.

The content of this thread has thrown up some very grey areas within LZ forum rules and modding.

If anything there isn't a section for recommendations as found on other forums, and neither am I selling anything so why should it go into the for sale section.?

i again concur

but shirly it should be in the fer sale section, just because he's a hippo whizz does that give him the right to litter the site with thinly sliced spam ?

blah blah ....

if your happy with this place being filled with "a friend of mine sells cheap things PM me for more info" type posts then carry on doing what your doing

but it's still spam, or at the very least should be in the for sale section

is that a difficult concept to grasp ?

I assume yu do realise, Sean that, but for your shouting, this fred would have been ignored by most - we now have at least three threads to do with these products - and most were created by a mod - who, I assume, doesnt have a problem with this.

I must also point out - that "litter the site with" is a smidge ott - dont yu think?

if the mods dont have an issue with it then so be it

however when peeps do start a new post (not within the for sale section) within which they offer something for sale they rightly and frequently get asked to re-post within the correct section

i fail to see why NI or anyone should be treated differently

I don't expect any member regardless of forum contribution, post count, or mod status to be treated differently.

But as already stated I aint selling anything,
