Whilst it's quite fun to watch the road surface pass by underneath through the corrosion holes in the rear tub floor of my 88, I ought to replace it and perhaps install something a little more durable.

Two questions, firstly is it just a question of drilling out the rivets and lifting the old floor out?

Secondly - does anyone sell these floors as a pre-fabricated part? I was wondering about fitting a floor with lashing eyes installed or at least similar to the design floors in the military 'rovers which had small raised ribs to help when sliding loads into and out of the loadspace.

Thanks for your help.

If I remember correctly the floor is just a sheet of aluminium riveted in, however there are (or should be) 3 pressed steel support members under the floor fastened to the tub and riding on rubber pads on the chassis.

Correct, but also three top hat sections running longitudinally. You can use box section for this instead though.

fairly easy job, as floor getting chucked i just ground the heads off, and punched them out, i bought correct spec ally and got a workshop to bend up sides about 30mm as btm lip corroded, you can buy the top hat sections easliy too

have a search on here for rear floor
