Hi all, I`m looking to find out what options are possible.
I want to change my standard radio/cd player for a more up to date GPS touch screen all in one type thing and was wondering who has done this and any advice please.
There are a lot of options out there but I don`t have money to throw away, so I thought I would finally register and ask.

If it's a FL1 Facelift, then it's easy as there are adapters to convert the console to take a standard Double DIN HU, and harness converters for the wiring too. This means you can use whatever make you can afford. If you're wanting Nav capabilities, then it'll be expensive if you use premiums brand like Alpine, Pioneer, Kenwood or Sony.

You can keep costs down by using a Chinese HU, but normally the software on those is less slick or less custom, and avoid those that are running Windows CE, which is now hopelessly out of date.

There are apparently some functional Chinese Android HUs about from the research I've done, the Atoto A6 seams about the best, and being available from Amazon means you can return it if it's not suitable for you.

Thanks Nodge, that helps, I should have said I have an 06 Td4 Fl1.
Has anyone out there already done a fit like this?
I`ll be back with more questions later.

@Ta2Peat you should have a look at this thread I posted earlier this year. Basically I took a used facelift centre console, and all the switches and grafted it onto my pre-facelift dashboard just so I could get room to put a double din on the vehicle. So after grafting the console on I then installed facelift to double din conversion kit and put in a cheap placeholder double din headset, later on I'll get around to putting a nice kenwood or alpine unit in there, but the thread should be useful reading for you as I list the parts I used for the stereo conversion.

The thread is located at: https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/dashboard-facelift-conversion.358560/

And the most useful info is the link to a freelander facelift --> double din facia adapter:

From memory you have to remove the centre console as that frame has to get screwed onto the dash in behind the centre console, then put the centre console back on, then insert the double din cage and fold back metal tabs to secure it in place, slide in the head unit, and there is a very thin bezel adapter that goes around the double din head unit and job is a good'un.

Center console isn't particularly hard to get out, but let us know if you need more info on doing it, you should most likely find a guide for doing it somewhere on this forum.
