For those who are still bothered.....

I recieved a letter back from the guy at the FC whos sort of in charge of the use of the land up at Langdale, and basically this is what was said:-

The site is obviously closed for the time being and will stay that way for a while because the FC feel some of the land is badly damaged and would benifit from not being used for such heavy 4x4ing.

Later this year the land will be up for use again and the FC would welcome any ideas for running buisness up there. The use of the site would have to go out to tender and all that sh*t... but otherwise aslong as someone can make money from it then Langdale could be reopened.

Read what you will into that, and again comments/views are welcomed.

I am still serioulsy considering this as a buisness opourtunity and would welcome anyone elses input if they feel they have something to add that hasnt been said before.....

One thing i still dont know, and would love to know, is how much the FC would charge per year for use of the land???

I already know the difficulty with working with them through being a contracts manager for a construction company!

Cheers,

Joe

They're just waiting until later in the year when they have more interest and prob don't want to quote yet before they know what they could potantially be asking for. You never know, there may be someone out there that's looking for land like that who will run a business turning over 10 times what a 4x4 site can, so they'd up the rent accordingly!

The only trick you can use is to call around all the other FC's in the country and pretend to be a student on some form of land management course and have a list of 20+ questions to ask about 3rd party use of FC land, restrictions and lease....etc. Just say you need to complete an assignment and would rather have up to date information than rely on the aged study materials that you have access to!

Usually, if you play dumb and ask outright for help, saying they'll be doing you the biggest favour etc...you'll probably get some answers. Just don;t do this with Langdale FC.

Well, knowing the past history of KORC from when it was run by Global Pursuits; I know that landlords do charge an enormous amount; as some of you will know, KORC has been vastly improved under the new management, with investment in catering, toilets, showers and camping facilities; the guys who run it now all have 'in the week' jobs and don't take anything from the site, but they have been forced to increase the entrance fees, presumably due to a rent increase.
I've heard the quarry is being worked again too, although that's hearsay at the mo - if that's true; the proceeds will be going to the landowner, and not them for renting it for off-roading!
