Removing hand brake assembly

Greetings

Can I remove the hand brake assembly internals, put the rear and front covers back on and drive the 110?
This is temporary by the way... just to locate the source of a noise I am experiencing whilst driving.

yes, remove the complete back plate assembly 4 x15mm headed bolts, refit drum and prop
