Evoque Stuck E-brake on Evoque

Hello everybody.
I have now in my garage 2016 Evoque, the 2WD, manual diesel version (yes, I know...).
I wanted to make a full rear brake service, because last two service men refused, but got stuck sadly and hope you can help me.

I am not amateur but my knowledge in cars ends in late 90ties as I do not like new cars.
So my issue is the car has electronic hand brake, which by it self is new for me, i tried to youtube / google how to enter the service mode, but somehow it doesn't work.
I managed only to disable hand brake but i cannot push the brake cylinder back, it resists more than it should.

What i did to enter the service mode:
Hand brake on, car on, but engine off.
I hold gas pedal on ground, e brake button down, brake down, and switch off the car.
I tried also to power cycle, but it doesn't ever enter the service mode, just writes that handbrake is off...

Any idea please? And thank you in advance.

Thank you, I've seen that on YouTube, but all videos had one in common, they were all automatic.
I know I have the worst possible model here, but the owner is a good friend and she loves the thing. 🤷‍♀️
I used to drive full spec evoque before as a part of dealer partnership so knew how addictive they are, but having a land rover for daily and hyundai van as an 4x4 is kinda sad...

Anyway.

So first i tried that as described, but could not get the E-brake to disengage without pressing a brake pedal as well...
Actually it made no difference if I had the throttle on or not at all.
Second it disengages the handbrake but no info about Service mode appears.
Third, i cannot push back the brake cylinder, it really looks like stuck. I worked on 100s of cars and this one looks like blocked. Handbrake is released, wheels turn, but i cannot push the cylinder back. So i suspect the E-Brake retracted, but the motor(?) still stops if from going further back allowing me to put wider pads.

Can't help putting parking brake into service mode without diagnostic, I used diagnostics to put it into service mode when I changed rear pads on friends car and you need a pad wind back tool to wind cylinders back they don't just push.
 
😥 this is the first time reading it and i watched like 100 of yt videos. So I am stuck? I have OBD scanner, but no service mode option there.
Any more points where to look further or get those would be appreciated.
We have no land rover or jag service here so I am trying to fit the shoe, so would consider getting it.
 
After some googling I actually might have something similar, does it mean i am supposed to rotate the cylinder?
I have this one... But still am not in service mode

Would removing the caliper, bleeding it again be also option (painful but without getting 4k€ diag computer).
 
Now I went to full YT rabbit hole and discovered that they are indeed rotated inside... Wow. You learn stuff every day. Going to try that tomorrow. Not sure it will work without the service mode, but might be a progress. Still not sure if CW or CCW but i guess I will see.
 
The Autel AP200 dongle will work, just select LR as the 'free' service mode vehicle range.

The above procedure works for any transmission type - to reiterate:-

You need to have the cars ignition on and the park brake released.
Press and hold the brake switch down (this is release) and wait for 2 seconds.
While still holding down the brake switch depress the accelerator pedal to full throttle and wait another 2 seconds.
Then press the start button to switch the ignition off and then immediately on again (2 presses)
You will hear the park brake retract and it will take a few seconds, keep the park brake and the accelerator pedal pressed the whole time.
On the instrument panel you will see the message "park brake in service mode" when the operation is complete.
Release the brake & accelerator pedals.

but I DID IT!

The procedure sadly as described doesn't work. Tried many times. Not sure why. If it is because not actual firmware, or because it is manual. Not sure. It never went there. But i did it anyway!
So for future references in case someone runs to same issue (I was searching long time).

It was enough to just disable handbrake. Then you need this tool

Before I always needed to just push back the brake cylinder, but today I learned that you need to rotate them as well. this is what the notches are for, they come to the grooves in the brake cylinder cap and rotate the cap. In my case clockwise (there are two handles in this kit, to CW or CCW).

Then it was just piece of cake.

I have new brake pads, and fully lubed brake caliper and new rotors now.

Pics or it didn't happen (i will add a video to my YT channel later)

Well done and thanks for reporting the result of your efforts.
 
Can of petrol at the ready tho to treat that car as it deserves
i swear to god when i seen plastic parts on brake calipers, on 2WD range rover, it was the moment when I really realized I have zero desire for new cars.
Beside the fact how i believe useless electric handbrake is.

Average age of my cars is around 25 i believe and happy about that.

My newest vehicle is my Transit from 2003, my cars range from 1986 to 2000. I wouldn't touch any of the new stuff.:)
 
I have two new ones, but they are Hyundais so not bothered by the "new" things there. They are like toyotas on drugs. And it was after government small business support program and fully tax deduct.

But yes, oldest is my 74 vette, 76 bug, 80 land cruiser and 86 jag.

Agree that 90-2005 ish is ideal range but above 2000 it is very individual, depending on when car was designed. I have 07 peugeot which is disaster (it was a gift), but 01 jag is a dream.

I am now looking for 80-90ties Santana or defender or some nice old range rover. I had two 07 defenders, it was a lot of trouble but would not really mind either as i know them well by now.
