Replaced the batteries a few months ago in both my two remote fobs. Both have worked perfectly until today when one of them failed. It is completely dead and will not lock or unlock, the other fob is still perfect so the car is receiving a signal. Has anyone any ideas on what may be the trouble and are there any checks I can make apart from making cheques?

If its not the fob battery then check the connections where the battery contacts attach the the circuit board - they can become loose and the fob fails - easy to solder back on though.

Sorry all, I should have said in my original post that I had changed batteries.
I will now check contacts as outlined here.

Contacts appear ok, resoldered just in case but no joy. Will use the other fob as I do like the convenience of a remote.
Someone is advertising a fob refurb at £40 but it's not worth spending that for a spare.
Thank you all for the advice.
