Hi there; I am having a problem with the central locking on my Disco 2; when I unlock all doors, the passenger door fails to unlock (on the second click of the remote) and I have to open it manually. They do all lock together on one click on the fob. Now I'm not very technical so any help would be gratefully received. Thanks.

Hi!

I'm a new Discovery owner (not a new Discovery, just a new owner!).
Mine does the same. Apparently, it's the small circular spring in the locking mechanism that wears/breaks.
You can get them on the web (eBay etc - here's a link to one such advert: eBay.co.uk: Land Rover Discovery Door Lock Repair Spring (item 260096271771 end time 22-Mar-07 19:37:34 GMT))

I'm having mine repaired on Wednesday, as it's from a dealer, under warranty.

Apparently, it's a bit of a fiddly job, but quite do-able!

Best of luck.

The above link is for t he Discovery I, do you know if the same part is used is a Series II?

My own Series II sometimes does this in cold weather, it then needs 3 presses of the button to unlock all the doors.

I've been told (but not with any authority), that this is trhe same issue, but I'm not sure that it's the same part (i.e. the spring may be a different size/type).
Sorry I can't be of anymore help, but I'm talking to a Land Rover mechanic tomorrow, so will try to find out.

The Disco 2 locks are different I'm afraid and of course more expensive to.
