Relay R6 faulty

HI all. My disc3 would not start so called out AA who discovered R6 relay was faulty and temporarily swapped the heated windscreen relay for the R9 relay as it is the same number to get me going. I now need to replace this relay but cannot find the same number on any parts sites (no. on top of relay is H 07207 2B can anyone advise me please.

Also I had a new battery on vehicle a Yuasa 5000 silver 5 yr guarantee 12v 100 ah 900 A (EN) - AA took a hammer and punch to it to ensure terminal was fitting tight???? and smashed the battery so had to put a new battery on which is a Yuasa 300012v 90ah 850A (EN) my question is - is this a suitable battery for my disc 3 TDV6 and is it an equal replacement for the battery that was damaged? don't want to break down with battery problems in the middle of nowhere as I have had this happen in the pasts and it is scarey

Hi, R6 should be YWB500220 as about the battery a 90AH is never equal with a 100AH but strangely according to the parts list the factory fitted ones were 95AH/855CCA on later modells and 90AH/825CCA on the earlyer ones so i dont think that the 90AH/850 would be a problem but you'll have to reset the BMS for it... the battery replacement on the D3 is not just "plug and play" like on the older vehicles, there are procedures to follow, neglecting them might not be "healthy". thank you so much for your help. The AA man swapped the relays over and put the windscreen heater relay into the R6 engine management position to get me going but I have no idea if he reset the BMS, he certainly did not do it when he swapped them as I was with him but he may have done it later when he said he was going to fiddle while i was doing something else. However, later when I drove the landrover a pile of warning lights came on the dashboard, so I turned the ignition off and re-booted the system and since then "so far" all is well??? How does one reset the BMS? I only have an icarsoft diagnostic tool, I do not have a GAP IID tool so can it be done with the icarsoft (Jaguar/landrover version 3)? or is this something I need to ask a garage to do

There is no BMS on Discovery 3, despite what the Topix document says, I suspect that is in fact for a Discovery 4. Discovery 3's were originally equipped with a Lead-Calcium battery, which have a slightly different charging profile, especially at low temperatures - which can be up to 15.5VDC. In most cases they can (and were) be replaced with AGM batteries, the only exception that I'm aware of was Nordic countries, Canada, China & Russia where they could only be replaced with Lead-Calcium batteries. Discovery 4 could have the battery type (EF+or AGM) and charge profile changed in the CCF and were all equipped with a BMS.

Are the AA paying you for a new battery? :eek:
 
Hi

Must confess would ask For a like to like replacement seeing these are so power hungry

Shame u have to suffer the consequences by there actions and indeed unfair to loose ur 5 year warranty

Also have a yuasa 019 and last around a month if not used , got mine from Halfords with a trade card so good value for money

Must confess wouldn’t ever buy a battery offline in case there’s an issue as many couriers won’t accept acid batteries , just now prefer to go to a shop instead of the hassle with couriers

Hope u get it resolved
