reconditioned IRD and VCU?

It would have cost you around £270 to do it yourself (plus the cost of returning your old VCU) so £50 less postage, to have it done for you sounds pretty good. Plus you know it was done right.

I have just noticed an oil drip from underneath my Freelander. I was advised to look on this forum page .. One thing springs to mind.. Everyone seems to talk in abbreviated language.. Please tell me what ird,s and vcu actually are?
 
Wow. I joined this site this morning because I was advised to. Said there were helpful people on here. Your the first person to reply and you put .. Search google?? Why are you on here if these are your answers? You could of given the answer in a second..

It's not a free techie advice service, it's a community.....the tech advice generally just kind of happens because people like to help each other out :)

It might seems a bit harsh but if you can't be bothered to look up what IRD and VCU stand for I'm not sure how much help anyone is going to be able to offer you.

Did you even bother to click on the links I posted? The second one has another link to a complete full answer to the questions you asked.
What do you want us to do? hold your nose and force the answer down your throat?

I have to say I have sympathy for Simon. The fella was obviously confused and needing clarification and information on a couple of parts.

All he got was a terse reply with links to more cryptic information and porn sites. For example the first link that came up had a heading of..

I mean, what sort of **** answer is that!

Having said that the bit highlighted in red is correct. If you click on the first link that comes up there is an excellent write up.
I think it took me approx 30 seconds to find it.
