bearings should be silent ,as should the gears ,you expect it to whine in reverse as its a straight cut gear but not the rest, it is full of oil both in g/box and t/box

Both are full of oil. It's defiantly not as bad as it used to be. Maybe it's just how it's supposed to sound when the gears turn in the box. Only run it so far without the seat box and floor in

Always confuses me a recon engine part.
As there isnt a defined standard, exactly what would you expect to be reconditioned in a gearbox.
Many years ago I picked up a recon head for a car but it didnt look like it had a new part in it.

Bearings and baulk rings & seals generally get replaced - depends how worn. Selector yokes depending on wear. Really depends on the box, and how much cash the rebuilder wants to throw at it. Most do the bare minimum to be honest which is why I did my own.

reconditioned is that ,not new, things as mentioned above are generally changed, your recon head should have been checked to prove it was to all the specs ,valves and seats should have been re-cut so as new sealing surface, though valves are generally so cheap most fit new and just cut the seat ,change or line the guides
