Not having the right gear etc to do it myself can anyone recommend anywhere/anyone on the Suffolk/Norfolk border (wider Diss area) for repairing a clutch plate issue?

And, from experience any idea of typical costs?

Its a D reg 1987 model DT 90

Thanks

What in particular do you not have to do the job yourself? It's all basic nuts and bolts apart from the engine hoist - and these can be hired easily enough. Seriously, it's worth considering doing it yourself. :)

or get some local members to help........they get bacon sarnies and you get your landy done and learn a bit.:)

You could Try Roger Martin at Tivetshall st Mary just off the A140 near the Ram Pub,
They do a good job at a good price, the family have used them for about 30 years. traditional family firm

Thanks everyone for your suggestions - being quite new to the area recommendations are important to me. I have toyed with doing it myself though sadly, its getting the time to do it and having the confidence to not eff it up.

After getting some scary quotes - it would be much, much cheaper to do it myself, as well as a good learning experience (?!). As I need an engine hoist is there a particular size I would need?

How long does the job tend to take?
And, do I need any special tools?

Engine hoist - tell the hire place what you're doing and they should be able to supply a suitable host.

After that, it really is a case of having a decent tool-kit - eg. socket set, spanners, screwdrivers, and so on. I'm racking my brains, but I don't recall needing any special tools to get the engine out and change the clutch.

Will you be able to find someone to help you? Even if they're not a Land Rover enthusiast - just having another capable body will make certain tasks easier. Even so, a competent DIY-er should be able to do it inside a day.
