Hi,

I'm gathering the bits to rebuild my 90.
Now looking for brake discs and pads.
I've suffered Britpart discs previously on my RRC ( they delaminated at speed - not fun.)

Pagid discs at eurocarparts are about £50 a piece for the front, but I am seeing some discs that are half this price on eBay.

What's good out there?

Thanks for that - very useful.

I take it the usual britpart warnings apply - avoid them unless the part number ends in G....

not necessarily , ive never found an issue with brake discs unless they corrode ie lack of use,in which case i have seen pattern delaminate, other parts are fine to but some are ****e, but g is normally good

Yeah, I've never seen this before either, but the disc face simply failed, and fell away from the disc itself, leaving a very rough inner surface.
I was completely dumbfounded - never seen anything like it...

TBH, I seem to have replaced all the britpart bits that had any engineering content, like seals, bearings etc. the only britpart bits that survived any time were literally the bits of bent metal - brake dust shields etc,.

So I'm very reluctant to buy anything britpart.

Britpart on mine slotted ones, no I didnt buy them! got them foc off a mate and they have been fine so far, again Mintex pads work fine.
Its a brake disc dont panic it will work.

Had BP vented / drilled / slotted with Mintex pads on the front and BP drilled / slotted with Mintex pads on the rear for over 12-months now and they are excellent. The brakes have excellent feel, massive power and it pulls up dead straight.
I fitted BP vented / drilled / slotted with Mintex pads on the front of my wife's Freelander 2-years ago and they proved to be such a success that I had no hesitation going for the same set-up on my 90.

Incidentally the discs I removed from my 90 were standard spec BP items, they had been on for over 10-years without any issues and it was only because the brakes seized up when it was SORN'd for 4-months last year (I was having the bulkhead etc galvanised) that I felt replacement was necessary.

Hi,
I have Britpart discs all round on my 90, Solids on front, with Delphi pads on the front and the Britpart pads on the rear, and after nearly 15000 miles thay are still working perfectly, with no abnormal wear on ay disc, regards

Yeah, I thought that - until one of mine fell apart, while heavy braking down on a motorway slip road.

Basically lost all braking on one side, was very hard keeping her in a straight line.

It sounds like they have got a bit better, perhaps, but it's interesting how the addition of the G on the part number doubles the price...
What is really the difference - would love to know...

g is britparts code for oem or genuine part not pattern

That's what I am wondering

I've had the cheapo bits, and they failed.
OEM do appear to be better, so what is the actual difference.

Interestingly , no one seems to be able to say wether their britpart discs were the cheapo or the OEM ones...

Anyway, in the meantime, I picked up a pair of original front landrover discs, for the same price as britpart OEM...

On the lookout for rears now...
