Hi Dudes,

Merry Xmas and all that!

The cats are shot in my 4.6 P38 and I can't decide what to do about it. I think the previous owner removed the material from them.

I can get some cheap replacements but they'll probably break again in no time as the supplier states that they must be kept away from water (ceramic).

I can get some more expensive metallic ones, but I'm wondering if I really need them at all.

It passed it's last MOT with no problem (it runs on lpg most of the time), so would I be better of just getting a decat pipe instead?

Anyone know what the legal position is with this and what the pros and cons to each option are?

Decat pipes seem to cost as much as replacement cats so I'm just wondering what the advantages are. I assume there actually are some?

if you are lpg then you must inform the tester that it is the main fuel and he will test accordingly the co for gas is 3.5% at idle so as long as you are on gas when testing ok
