Hi there, Im new to all this forum stuff.
Just wondered if any one could shed any light on my S3 rebuilt engine that has lost all power!!
It was running great for a few days after the rebuild, then has lost power to the extent of it would happily cruse at 60mph down to struggling 15mph in first!
Its not losing water or oil and they have not mixed.
starts up fine and will rev up but inder load its gutless.
had a new fuel filter tank cleaned out and the lift pump seems to pump gallons.

work done on the engine.

reground crank new mains and big ends

recon injector pump and injectors timed using proper tool.

reground valves

horned bores with new set of rings

cam was fine with no visable wear.

full gasket set

any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

no it doesnt smoke. no more than it should anyway. I will take the injectors back to the deisel chap in the morn and get him to retest them. We have tried moving the timing eitherway a bit once but it runs best on the pointer which was set using the master splined lr tool.

thanks thanks for the promp responses.:)

hi there James
similar symptoms but not as bad. was slow and did smoke alot before the rebuild, had no oil pressure either.

hi Suris

I will try to run it without air filter for a bit making sure the butterfly valve opens as it should.

thanks :)

Try checking the fuel cut off arm on the pump, the lower arm that gets pulled when you stop the engine, if it's not fully open it will have no power. And just a thought, don't forget to take it handy with a rebuilt engine, especially with new main bearings....

Butterfly valve...Series 3...??

By hell mad git, I aint even thought of that, reccon you could just be spot on :5bsifone::cool:

It's possible, it did it to me, I didn't have the nob shoved all the way in. I've since put a small spring on it which helps pull it back.
