Shame it's from a Disco, my Defenders R380 is a little worn and needs changing, currently going through various suppliers of refurbs! Would of taken them both. Pretty sure the Disco R380 wont fit a Defender R380?

On a side note, what difference does the 5th gear cog make?

Rob, you'll be MUCH happier with a 1.4 box in, it makes the world of difference when on oversize tyres, can't believe I didn't swap mine sooner!!

Hi Sam would putting this style t/box on my auto disco help me? I had my autobox replaced about 18 months ago (would not change gear when cold) now the disco was off the road for a year just after the box swap it ran ok ie would change normal i got it mot'ed 2 weeks before xmas and seamed fine then on sunday 5th jan went green laning with a few members on here did a 200 mile round trip gear box felt like it was slipping a little bit on the way home. Today it was like i had my old box back it just would not change out of first again  i don't have mega big tyres they only 235/85/16

sorry AJC for the hijack

235/85 is fairly large mate easy 32"

Defender takes 1.4 box on 235/85 factory fit so yes on that basis it would be preferable

A lot of defender owners fit 1.2 to lower their revs but that's when they have smaller tyres on, also 90 is very light so doesn't notice the 1.2 as badly.

I did have one lined up, long conversation with seller, agreed price, etc. Then, he sprung another buyer on me who could "pick it up tomorrow" and I was 250 miles away. He did say he would wait for me but clearly was happier to sell sooner. I didn't care for his style (or the style of a fellow LZer who contacted the seller even though the sale was agreed on the seller's thread) so I walked away. They are welcome to each other!

I can't afford this one at the moment but it is something to consider. I'm still a little wary as mine pulls like a train from 800rpm with the TGV and a VNT Turbo. I can't feel the boost, just grunt!!

AJC will your t/box fit on my autobox ?

When AWT reconditioned my transfer box, I had him change it from 1:222 to 1:410.
Best thing I've done to the vehicle to date. MUCH more drivable.
