Take the wiper arm off and move it to the correct place.

I've done that multiple times but it always ends up on the wrong side of the window instead of back up under the spoiler
Stupid question time but can the cog be placed in the wrong position? As in could it be on upside down, making the stop point on the right rather than left?

Take the arm off, mark a dot with tip ex on the spindle where the return point should be and cycle it a few times with the arm off for a few days checking to see it cycles back to the same point

I thought about that but it just doesn't stop in the right place, I can move the spindle manually to where it should start (by jumping it with a battery to make it move) but it swings 9 times which means it will always end in the wrong place, for some reason it just doesn't want to go back under the spoiler. i'm wondering if anyone would have a photo of the inside where the cog is, that way i can take it off and match it up with the photo

The wiper arm can go on in different places on most wiper drive sindles, so It's usually a matter of taking the arm off and repositioning it. That assumes that the stop position is consistent.

That's the old motor

I think there's probably a magnet missing from the rear of the gear that tells the motor when to stop, when I ordered a new gear for mine there was no magnet! (if you power the motor off the car it will just continuously turn, there are two plugs on the car I think one is a reed switch to stop the motor after one turn)
