My rear wiper motor stopped working.I was looking on Freel2.com and found some useful information for a cheap fix and it works.
I purchased a used rear wiper motor for a 2004 fiesta as the innards are the same as the fl2 wiper the only difference is the length of the shaft and stripped it down to remove some of the internals as I only needed the motor and I used the big yellow plastic cog.
After taking mine apart I found one of the brushes was u/s.
The price for a second hand fl2 motor was £80 and all I paid for the fiesta motor was £11.99.
This is sure a cheap fix and all it took me was about 45 mins and it is good as new.

It's a known thing the brushes wear over the years through use. Yer should find a lot of carbon dust or similar in it when this happens. Sometimes to the extent they over heat and have occasionally caught fire.

Do we know the year that the ford rear wiper fits the FL2 what about a 07 reg ? are they the same or is it just the 2004

I do not know what year will do but I saw someone on freel2.com say the newer ones had the motor crimped on to the unit and I think it was 2006 model.
I have put pic on here so you can see the two screws that hold motor

Hi
It was the corrode in the shaft that seized the motor it is a common fault with water going in and the shaft going rusty and I think that caused the brushes to burn out.
I just cleaned the shaft and added plenty of grease.

I have a 2010 reg fl2 with a worn cog, new wiper unit is £150 but all I need is the yellow cog...will this fit?

The cog is identical ,fitted and no movement at all, unlike before when it would move as far as the worn teeth and stop...the brushes are as new and I get continuity with a multimeter across the contacts..fuse is fine(single fuse near spare wheel for all wipers, front wipers work)...any suggestions?
