the same as alot of other owners, my rear window stopped working, but my bodge was to force the window down a couple of mm so I could open and close the rear door, but the glass stays outside of the channel, if it rains hard I get a little water inside, but I can live with that, well tonight the wires (like brake cables) snapped, making the window totally drop, thankfully I got it raised and held in place, so Im thinking, what to do next

1, Ive seen a repair kit on evil bay at around £15, but of course, fitting this I doubt will make the window work again, it would be so much easier if the rear window had a handle for raising/lowering, rather than electrics to go wrong
has any thought or done this?

2, option, remove window and fit a piece of perspex into the channel, thats removable if needed when opening rear door, yes its a bit of mucking about, but I only aim to keep the car for another 15 months, then try to pick up a defender

Just ordered a repair kit off eBay yesterday, I will let you know about the quality when I have got it.

The Perspex ain't gonna be a lot of use. And it will be a pain in the ass to fit and remove to open the door - otherwise replace the regulator with a good 2nd hand one or new.

Just spotted this on LZ Live

Have repaired many many freelander windows, practically every FL1 we get in the garage

The eBay kits use stainless wire so they are better than OEM, they're tight AS #### to get fitted to the runners but with perseverance they go on and work well

All the best

step by step pictures would be good on the repair kit.

as for the perspex idea, if it was pushed up into the channel, and flush with top of door, then the door could be opened/closed without problem, it would just mean a smaller area to load in/out, but could be pulled down and out if need be
