right firstly, hello to u all, im a newbie so thought id better say hi before picking your brains :D
ive had a droning noise coming from the offside rear for a couple of weeks, progresively getting worse, i've identified the problem as the wheel bearing.
my question is, is there a "how to" on replacing it?
or, any hints n tips on what exactly needs to be removed to get at it.
ive got a fair mechanical knowledge but never done a wheel bearing before so dont wanna wreck anything or take half the rear end to bits when there isnt any need if ya know what i mean lol
any advice etc greatly appreciated
thanks

hope the attached help )

cheers mate, very helpful, but i've just admitted defeat for today, i cannot budge the drive shaft nut, ive tried everything! gonna have to nip it to a garage and see if i can get them to remove the nut for me with an air gun!
i've struggled with that damn nut since 10 oclock this morning!!!!!
stress doesnt quite cover it lol
but thanks again, those attatchments will be ideal once ive got this nut removed

Drive shaft nut is 400Nm. It's the type you put a stake in (kink), to stop it coming orf.

yeah Hippo thats the one, lovely little thing it is!!!! lol
my neighbours just lent me a 6ft iron bar to swing on it with, if that dont budge it, i'll glady pay a garage to do it!

I bouight one of these torque multipliers off ebay. £125 if I remember correctly, but you can also hire them.

well, first attempt at cracking it off this morning resulted in a snapped ratchet! i think i might have to admit defeat and pay a garage to do it. cant afford to snap any more tools on one stupid nut lol

just bought a new cracker bar, combined with the scaff bar it should shift it!
just to confirm, double check, it is normal hand thread right? i do keep checking but soemones just asked me and put doubt in my mind lol

no joy! 2 ft cracker bar + 6ft iron bar = not today thankyou!
cannot shift it, so looks like its going into a garage grrrrrr

well, the saga is still going on! having snapped a brand new cracker bar on it, i managed to get a neighbours son to nip round with a more heavy duty socket set and with the aid of a scaf bar, it shifted :D
but, i havent had time to do it untill now, so been out there for an hour this morning, removing this that n the other and ive come to a halt!
2 bolts at the bottom of the shocker, cant shift em!!! grrrrrrrr not this again! lol
heres to another whole day trying to budge 2 bolts in blistering temps, oh the joy!

yeah i got that sorted locally :D
only problem is now, the spring on the brake shoe setup that clips onto the adjuster thing has gone PING!
i cant find anywhere that has one or they have them but they are closed till monday!
i need the car early monday morning!!!!!
dont suppose anyone near chesterfield has one kicking around do they?
