I agree, chuck that bit in the scrap pile, with the rest of the chassis. Mine went within weeks of buying the old girl. Far too expensive to put a genuine step back on, unless you have more money than sense, or a good source of second hand parts...
 
I'd pay for that rear step (but i'm outside uk, so), it's in a lot better condition than mine and new ones cost a lot.
Definately do NOT bin that but put for sale.
 
I would have used that as a good excuse to buy a welding machine and get practicing, you will need that skill sooner rather than later ;).
Please don't mention welding after the carry on I had with a supposedly Landrover garage......

 
A patch up.... Better tha £300 for new
