Rear springs

Morning all, just watched a youtube video(I know!) of a guy in Australia refurbishing his rear leaf springs and he said that they are not symetrical, as in the 'centre' locating pin is closer to one end than the other. I've not heard of this before which leaves me thinking it's either (a), a myth (b) a well kept secret or (c) something I have just not heard about. Thoughts, opinions, knowledge?

i think he is right. Two different part numbers, 517588 and 517589.

I'm not referring to the difference between left and right. It's the distance from the centre locating pin to each end of the spring. If there is a difference it would put the axle in a slightly different position (front to back) depending on which way round you mount the spring.

I have refurbed front and back on mine and can’t say I’ve noticed any offset of centre hole, and that would suggest they should only fit one way but I assumed there is no front or back, a measure with tape would check

I don't recall a difference, just the driver/passenger side difference

Look at the eyes, it they have the same amount of safety spring wrap then I would guess they will fit either way, but I dont recall it being mentioned on forums before so maybe they are the same?
