Hi all

just working some of the kinks out of my new-to-me disco1 300tdi, i have oil on the rear n/s brake disc. Brake fluids ok so i'm guessing oil leak.

Is this seal an easy job ? I know i'll need new pads but what tools would it need.

Diff oil level is ok.

I stops fine even though its oily and had just got a new MOT before i got it, i'm guessing they steam-cleaned the crap off and snuck it through??

Thanks

Dave

It'll be the hub oil seals. remove the brake caliper & disc etc. then remove the hub & bearings, then remove the stub axle and renew the inner seal, fit new gaskets when you put it all together, clean & regrease the bearings, fit a new oil seal in the hub and tighten up as per Mr Haynes manual. Best with one of those large box spanners (I think 52mm?? loads on ebay for about £5) Consider renewing your brake pads if they're down whilst you've got them off. Seals & gaskets for less then £10 a side.

Take the wheel off and check the Caliper exact same problem as mine. Piston has corroded and pulled the outer seal off. your's might have only moved a bit hence the fluid loss not been so noticable.

When I got the hub spanner from Paddocks I got a round plate welded on the top with a 13mil welded on-makes it easy to do the torque adjustments:D:D
