I have 157,000 miles on my odometer, and had only 2 advises on my last MOT on the 1 June 24, ball joint rubber cracking, so all good so far, the last week my brakes started squeaking, this started to get worse, so as I have never had a brake problem and have not replaced then since I got it in 2006, and I don’t do a lot of miles and never brake hard, as I always go down the gears, but looking at my disc’s I thought must be time for new pads, so I ordered, new disc’s, new pads and not to skimp new callipers too , just to be safe, OK my disc, and callipers were basically shot , very rusty but the big surprise was my pads were not worn down, very much, the only thing I found was the two rear lower sliders had the wrong bolt in and were ceased , so a set of new rear sliders were fit as well so all good now, for another 24 years with luck
check out the old pads against the new black ones in the middle and the rears were the same very little wear
